1 - As warned in Issue 31, December 1973: … Certain segments of this magazine are hereby classified as unfit for adults or otherwise. Do not read any further if you are easily offended, or if your morals are not in condition to be shocked. 2 - In "The MAGIC CAULDRON" Bill Kuethe stated that "CHAOS" is probably the rarest Magic magazine for collectors to find. As a collector he could sense the future absence of this gem of underground activity. 3 - "Amid the din, the drinks and the repartee, the gang agreed on two major things; they would christen their group THE DRINKING RING of the Society of Winnipeg Magicians and all those who participated in this venture would be known as THE ROUNDERS OF THE NIGHT TABLE.

A T T E N T I 0 N - A L L C O L L E C T O R S

A number of years ago the Magicians Society Of Winnipeg began promoting I.B.M. Ring 40 by publishing a monthly magazine with contents totally unlike any other magic magazine called "CHAOS". The name aptly described the content of the journal and the character of the group. Some members voiced immediate objection to such an undertaking while others applauded the idea of putting out such a magazine and quickly joined the brazen group in the local beer parlor, the meeting place for this bold venture. The imbibers all agreed to disagree and have fun while doing thereby promoting the Society of Winnipeg Magicians. Just what was to be fun was in question so a lot of argument and debate took place between rounds of frothy servings. Amid the din, the drinks and the repartee, the group agreed on two major things; that they would christen their group THE DRINKING RING of the Society of Winnipeg Magicians and all those who participated in this venture would be known as THE ROUNDERS OF THE NIGHT TABLE. And that was CHAOS at the point of its alcoholic birth!

With issue #32 "CHAOS" began featuring such items as: Dunn's Pandora's Box, Fagan's Adventures of The Lining Rings, Dietrich & Jarrow's Computer Card Retort, The Many Faces of Hades and more exotic stuff.

As a very special bonus feature, they including (by special arrangement) "The Missing PHOENIX" (349/350) which contains Baltimore's Double Exposure Card Stab and a pictorial section. In a notice mailed March 8th, 1974, they wrote: "We have produced exactly 80 copies this double issue, of which 48 are now spoken for. After that date no further issues will be made available and refunds will be forwarded to all late-comers. Complimentary and Review copies are suspended for this issue. This will be your only opportunity to acquire for your collection, a choice rarity to re-read and treasure for years to come."

As said in the Christian Conjurors Chronicle review: "CHAOS is the first underground publication to reveal the incredible truth about disorganized Magic organizations" ……Anonymous.
All errors have been edited except for slang words that were used to maintain the flavor and intent of the writers and provide a clear picture of this "ragazine".
Many words carry the English spelling such as used in Canada, so don’t expect a quiet neighborhood in the midst of a wild Winnipegian community.
